Writing Tip no. 23

Your first go at anything you write is going to be awful. If you focus on getting the writing out rather than on making it a masterpiece right out of the gate, you’ll set more realistic expectations for the road ahead. This also takes a lot of stress out of writing. Admit that your first draft sucks but relish the freedom and excitement that can come from just writing what you want. After all, you already know that it will need to be edited. Write without fear. Edit without mercy.

November is National Novel Writing Month , or #NaNoWriMo, where thousands of writers around the world commit to writing an entire novel during November. Even if you can’t commit to writing a whole book, you can join Grammarly in our celebration of this month with #GrammoWriMo
